BUTTERFLY FLIP

About Butterfly Flip

Named after the famous show jumper, The Butterfly Flip bit is similar in appearance to the Kimblewick and Uttoxeter but notably it has a longer section above the mouthpiece. It also has large rings to which the bridle cheek pieces are attached rather than a narrow oblong slot as a Kimblewick or Uttoxeter would. This larger attachment allows the bridles cheek pieces to slip around more freely as the rein contact is taken up, especially when the lower rein attachment is used.

The sides of the bit also give directional guidance by placing pressure against the face as the opposing rein is used. This also helps to keep the bit’s mouthpiece central within the mouth.
